Wednesday night I felt the need to do some quick sketching. I’ve been seeing a lot of Batman sketches lately on the various art blogs I follow and it inspired me to do a quick Batman. I had a little trouble with the markers bleeding into the batsymbol, but other than that I like it.
Batman is crazy easy to draw, especially in a “dark knight” type of pose like the above. Go ahead, draw Batman! Take a picture and post a link as a comment to this post.
After I warmed up with Batman I felt like sketching something else. I started a Green Lantern but the pose wasn’t coming together and my heart wasn’t in it. Instead I decided to finally try a Judge Dredd. I decided to do it as a sketchcard to go with the 2000AD sketchcard set I’m working on. I think it’s the most marker I’ve ever used. The face looks a little better on the actual card, I think my scanner adjusted the exposure a little.
I really like the way the eagle turned out. The rest is okay. Not thrilled with the chin. Judge Dredd is all about big chin. A lot of the lines aren’t really even either, but this was a really fast sketch.
